Job Description
Grow cloud-based financial technology at SS&C Financial Services Development, where you’ll analyze, design, program, and improve applications that support brokerages’ clearing mutual fund subaccounts. This onsite role in Kansas City, MO focuses on building and testing enhancements and new products with BDD/TDD and modern technologies, with an emphasis on security, scalability, and maintainability.
What you’ll do
- Analyze, design, program, and modify software enhancements and/or new products for local, networked, cloud-based, or internet-related environments.
- Develop applications in a private cloud that provides outsourcing capabilities to brokerages for mutual fund subaccount clearing.
- Write code and perform testing and debugging using current languages and technologies, leveraging BDD/TDD and cloud-native practices.
- Complete documentation and procedures needed for installation and maintenance.
- Work with users to define system requirements and/or needed modifications.
- Follow Software Engineering and Information Security Controls, aligning with enterprise architectural strategies.
- Close software defects and ensure architectural diagrams remain current.
What we’re looking for
- Ability to design, build, and maintain modern web applications for internal and external customers.
- Experience developing REST APIs and microservices to integrate with internal and external client systems.
- Agile team collaboration: work with a product owner to define, develop, and estimate user stories and epics.
- Partner with BA and QA to create and implement automated BDD tests.
- Commitment to ongoing scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Computer Science/Engineer related Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree.
- Solid fundamentals in OOP, data structures, algorithms, and SQL.
- Continuous learning mindset and the ability to quickly apply new skills.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Interest in working across the full stack, including backend and frontend.
- Familiarity with Git and unit testing (school projects count) and working in a team.
Technologies you may work with
- Spring / Spring Boot, JPA, JUnit
- JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue, plus HTML5 and CSS3
- REST API design and microservices
- Docker, AWS, Azure, and CI/CD pipelines
- Test frameworks including Jest, Cypress, Playwright, Cucumber, or Selenium
- Kafka, NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB)
- Git, unit testing, and BDD/TDD (including Cucumber/Selenium)
