Software Engineer Tech Lead

Rad Hires is hiring a Software Engineer Tech Lead to help guide engineering delivery for a high-traffic e-commerce ticketing platform based in Jersey City, NJ with a hybrid schedule. In this role, you will lead a product squad focused on platform stability, performance, and scalability, while driving technical initiatives that translate into measurable business outcomes.

What you’ll do

• Lead a product squad responsible for technical stability and continuous platform refinement that supports key business outcomes.
• Partner with business stakeholders to define product solutions that improve user experience and align with financial objectives.
• Design and implement technical improvements to enhance the functionality and efficiency of the ticketing system.
• Evaluate and integrate GenAI technologies to improve platform capabilities and optimize business processes.
• Apply data infrastructure investments to maximize performance and scalability.
• Strengthen platform observability to monitor performance proactively and reduce downtime.
• Review and optimize platform integrations to support scaling goals and maintain operational efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and by building a collaborative team environment.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code to support long-term system stability.
• Manage the engineering backlog so technical improvements stay aligned with business objectives and deliver measurable impact.

What you’ll need

• Experience in a high-traffic e-commerce environment focused on scalable and performant systems.
• Expertise in data engineering, platform optimization, and system integration.
• Experience integrating GenAI and working with large-scale, data-intensive systems.
• Strong knowledge of performance profiling, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Proficiency with core technologies such as Java, Python, or TypeScript.
• Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Interest in building scalable, maintainable, and efficient systems.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Salary

$180,000 - $210,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.

Nice to have

Interview process

• 10/15-minute phone call with the recruiter to confirm HR answers, discuss company culture, and review the interview process.
• 30-minute video call with the VP of Engineering focusing on behavioral questions and light technical questions.
• 1-hour coding interview (via Coderpad) with 2 Software Engineers to solve a real-world problem and express your solution in code, including time and space complexity.
• 1-hour coding interview (via Coderpad) with 2 Software Engineers in a similar format with a different test.
• 90-minute onsite with the VP of Engineering and 1 Senior Software Engineer. You will work through a real-world business challenge, translate ideas into actionable steps by writing sample tickets, and participate in a Q&A.
