Technical Support Engineer
Job Description
GE Vernova’s offshore wind service operations rely on responsive technical support to keep turbine commissioning and day-to-day work moving. In this role, you will act as a first point of contact for troubleshooting, while also shaping how technical cases, instructions, and improvements are carried through controller, HMI, and SCADA related service activities. Based in New Jersey with onsite and remote duties, you will support offshore vessels and collaborate across engineering to strengthen operational safety, quality, and technical readiness.
What you will do
- Provide first-level remote technical troubleshooting, with periodic onsite support, for turbine issues; work with service teams within scope and escalate or redirect to the right technical specialists when needed, with attention to turbine controller commissioning timelines.
- Create and manage technical cases, work orders, and Non-Conformities (NCs) tied to updates for instructions, tools, and troubleshooting guides, as well as responses to customer technical queries, aligned to project and quality processes.
- Support Work Orders (WO) readiness by defining priority and assisting the back-office purchasing team with tooling and spares lists to support daily planning and execution.
- Coordinate daily planning calls with offshore vessels to support execution planning and optimize the activities for the next day.
- Collaborate with design and technical support teams to develop troubleshooting guides that reinforce service technical independence and improve daily efficiency.
- Lead technical and operational improvements that impact main controller, HMI, or SCADA functions for technician operations and site-specific operations, including grid outages.
- Drive process improvements centered on digitalization, data analytics, and EHS compliance.
- Analyze operational data to support continuous improvement in safety and quality, with special focus on warnings analysis and control improvements across overall warnings strategies.
Required qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of Offshore Wind Farm experience.
- Education: Associates Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering, or a High school diploma with advanced Wind training and experience.
How you will work with the team
- Reports to the Technical Support Leader.
- Supports operations execution teams, including supervisors and technicians working locally in turbines and remotely in a Remote Operation Center.
- Maintains a strong working relationship with the Control team within the Engineering organization.
Skills that will help you succeed
- Proven track record in wind turbine operation and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of wind turbine systems across electrical, mechanical, controls, and network and communication systems.
- Offshore wind experience is highly desirable due to logistical complexity and offshore operational challenges.
- Experience applying continuous improvement and quality tools to service operations.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with flexibility to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Effective communication skills and a goal-driven team approach.
- Ability to understand English for global procedures.
