Job Description

WGM Group Inc is seeking a Midlevel Transportation Design Engineer for an on-site role in Missoula, Montana. The position involves conceptualizing, planning, and delivering transportation designs across urban corridors, highways, roundabouts, signals, lighting design, parking analysis, and non-motorized infrastructure, in collaboration with project managers to produce plans, specifications, and estimates. The compensation ranges from USD 78,000 to 100,000 per year and requires a bachelor’s degree with at least four years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the responsible lead for technical design and production across a broad spectrum of transportation projects.
  • Partner with project managers to establish project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with engineers and staff on QA/QC to ensure designs comply with specifications, regulations, and contract conditions.
  • Regularly apply engineering software to analyze data and generate client-ready deliverables.
  • Develop infrastructure cost estimates, technical reports, and project updates.
  • Remain current with advances in engineering design and technique to support innovation within WGM practices.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical direction to the project team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field, with transportation emphasis preferred.
  • A minimum of four years of transportation engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Strong transportation design capabilities with a creative problem-solving approach.
  • Solid technical understanding of engineering design principles.
  • Experience working with the Montana Department of Transportation or other government agencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and daily workloads.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with project managers to execute projects and deliverables.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
