A Process Controls Engineer is needed to design, program, test, commission, and support PLC and HMI based water treatment control systems for municipal and industrial facilities. This on-site role is based in Westminster, Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy control architectures for municipal and industrial water treatment facilities.
- Create and maintain Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) along with comprehensive control system documentation.
- Produce electrical interconnection drawings, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, and control narratives.
- Design and support electrical control panels powering water treatment equipment.
- Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs to meet project requirements.
- Configure, maintain, and support HMI and SCADA applications.
- Conduct control system testing, simulation, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
- Lead startup and commissioning efforts for new installations.
- Perform wiring verification, loop checks, and field troubleshooting.
- Assist with project planning, proposal development, and controls scope definition.
- Serve as the primary controls engineering contact for assigned projects after startup.
- Support customers through troubleshooting, optimization, program updates, and system improvements.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, and Field Services teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Contribute to developing and improving company controls standards and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and interns as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years in industrial automation, controls engineering, electrical design, or process controls.
- Experience developing, modifying, and troubleshooting PLC and HMI applications in industrial environments.
- Hands-on experience with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix Studio 5000, Schneider Electric, Siemens, or similar systems.
- Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms including FactoryTalk View, InduSoft, Ignition, Wonderware, Vijeo Designer, or similar.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP and Modbus.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and controls-related systems independently.
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control panel drawings.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass physical examination, background check, and drug screening.
