Civil Engineer Project Manager
Job Description
Seasoned Project Manager with a Virginia PE license to lead civil land development initiatives in Fairfax from concept through final approvals, emphasizing site plans in Northern Virginia jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Direct civil land development projects from initial concept through final approval and permitting.
- Serve as the primary liaison for clients, municipalities, and review agencies.
- Oversee and review site plan preparation for residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary internal project teams to ensure cohesive progress.
- Ensure quality control of engineering plans prior to submission.
- Develop and review grading, stormwater management, utility, roadway, and ADA-compliant designs.
- Navigate Northern Virginia entitlement, zoning, bonding, and permitting processes.
- Support proposal development, project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Participate in client meetings, agency meetings, and occasional evening public hearings.
Requirements
- Active Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 8 to 12 years of civil land development experience.
- Proven ability to prepare and manage site plans within Northern Virginia jurisdictions.
- Strong project management, coordination, and client communication skills.
- Solid understanding of local regulations and entitlement processes.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Experience with HEC-RAS, StormCAD, WaterCAD or comparable engineering software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Commitment to mentoring junior staff and fostering team development.
