Job Description

Liberty Mutual’s Global Digital Services (GDS) organization is seeking a Data Platforms Software Engineer to help build and evolve DataForge, a data factory platform used to support data product development. In this hybrid role based in Portsmouth, NH, you’ll work with cross-functional engineering teams and data product partners to deliver reliable software that improves how customers experience data-driven services.

This position emphasizes agile collaboration and solid software engineering practices, with a focus on building end-to-end solutions that bring meaningful value to users. You’ll address technical challenges, contribute to quality through iterative development, and continuously look for ways to enhance performance, quality, and efficiency.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with Tech Data Office product stakeholders and CloudForge Engineering teammates to resolve technical challenges tied to data product development, delivering quality through Agile execution.
  • Work on complex engineering problems using innovative, creative approaches to develop effective solutions.
  • Keep the end user front and center while building products that deliver meaningful customer value.
  • Adapt quickly to new technologies and methodologies, proactively recognizing skill gaps and taking steps to address them.
  • Look beyond issue resolution by identifying opportunities to improve performance, quality, and efficiency.
  • Build out DataForge to support the Technology Data Office and the broader data products portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of Full Stack Engineering experience.
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, deployments, and services including AWS, S3 buckets, eventing, Cloud Foundry, GitHub, and GitHub actions.
  • Ability to build and consume RESTful services (APIs).
  • Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools.
  • Experience with Snowflake, DBT (Data build Tool), and/or Airflow (preferred).
  • Experience working in an agile environment using Scrum (or Kanban / XP).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain engineering decisions to non-engineers.
  • Collaborative and adaptable approach with initiative and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Thorough understanding of technology concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture, and technical standards.

Salary range: USD 83,000 to 154,000 per year.
