Design Engineer
Job Description
Overview
The Design Engineer leads the design and production engineering for inlet and exhaust systems used in simple cycle and combined cycle turbine configurations. This role guides drafting activities and supports tactical initiatives and field operations.
Essential responsibilities
- Serve as the technical liaison with clients to review applications, project specifications, and documentation.
- Summarize requirements to support quote development with Estimators, including conducting customer site visits to verify details.
- Create, modify, and review fabrication drawings; perform and/or verify design calculations; direct drafting personnel to complete design and fabrication drawings.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Welding Engineering, and Project Management to assemble information needed to complete all technical activities.
- File management and organization of electronic records and drawing revisions for assigned projects.
- Support activities for unassigned jobs as required by project schedules, including site visits and customer engagement events such as presenting company capabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited university, or an Associates degree plus two years of industry related experience, or five or more years directly related industry experience showing progression to competency of essential job functions.
- Competency with structural steel design and erection preferred.
- Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Combined Cycle Power Generation Systems required, including Filter Houses, Plenums, Ducting, and HRSG components.
- Familiarity with ASME VIII Div. 1 design and construction and industry standards preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency in design tools preferred, including AutoCAD, Inventor or similar, structural software such as RISA or Tekla or similar, and Microsoft Office products.
