Role overview
The Design Engineer is responsible for the design and production engineering of inlet and exhaust systems for turbine configurations. The role guides drafting activities and supports tactical initiatives and field operations to ensure accurate, actionable engineering outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical contact with clients to review applications, project specifications and documentation
- Summarize requirements to support quote development with Estimators, including performing customer site visits to verify details
- Create, modify and review fabrication drawings, perform and/or check design calculations, and direct drafting personnel to complete design and fabrication drawings
- Coordinate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Welding Engineer, and Project Management to establish information needed to complete all technical activities
- File management and organization of electronic records and drawing revisions associated with assigned jobs
- Site visits as needed to support project goals
- Participate in customer engagement events, including presenting company capabilities
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited university, or Associates degree plus 2 years industry experience, or 5+ years directly related industry experience showing progression to competency of essential job functions
- Competency with structural steel design and erection preferred
- Licensed Professional Engineer preferred
- Strong knowledge of Combined Cycle Power Generation Systems, including Filter Houses, Plenums, Ducting and HRSG components
- Familiarity with ASME VIII Div. 1 design and construction and industry standards preferred, but not required
- Proficiency in design and engineering tools: AutoCAD, Inventor or similar; structural software such as RISA or Tekla; and Microsoft Office
