Design Phase Engineer I and II - Power Delivery
Job Description
The role provides design phase support for power delivery projects, collaborating with project leadership to enhance the customer experience, financial performance, scheduling, estimating, and planning, while enabling a smooth transition to construction operations. This onsite position is based in Minnesota.
Responsibilities
- Support the project team in achieving alignment on scope, budget, and schedule, fostering an integrated team experience and strong construction readiness
- Assist with establishing and managing project budgets and scope expectations, budget trending logs, and related communications and resources
- Create and manage project schedules and milestones, and hold team members accountable for timely milestone achievement
- Assist in regulatory approvals and permitting processes
- Identify technical design and specification concerns and escalate to achieve resolution
- Provide recommendations for programming and conceptual design to ensure constructability and effective logistics solutions
- Coordinate with the integrated construction team to incorporate BIM and VDC modeling into the design phase
- Assist with project proposal development
- Prepare bid packages and contract manuals for subcontractors and suppliers with the project planning team
- Analyze and track LEED requirements
- Coordinate document and electronic interface processing
- Model and set a standard for outstanding customer relations
- Gather feedback during the design process and identify opportunities for future projects
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or an equivalent field
- Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and relevant web applications
- Positive professional attitude and strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies to employees and external stakeholders
- Open to change based on diverse input and feedback
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and at all organization levels

Design Phase Engineer I
Minimum qualifications: Minimum of two years relevant experience
Base pay range: $82,000 - $110,700 per year
Design Phase Engineer II
Minimum qualifications: Minimum of four years relevant experience
Base pay range: $91,100 - $123,000 per year
