Job Description
G-TECH Services, Inc. seeks a Design Release Engineer for wiring harnesses to design and release wiring harnesses for both high and low voltage programs, lead Technical Design Reviews, and support the product lifecycle from prototype through production. The role requires travel, including out-of-state trips and visits to Mexico and Central America as needed. The position is based in Dearborn, Michigan and is onsite.
Responsibilities
- Design wiring harnesses for both upper and lower body configurations, meeting targets for cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing.
- Apply Robustness Engineering disciplines to ensure conformance to requirements and specifications, including quality history, P-Diagram, and FMEA.
- Utilize Six Sigma and 8D methodologies in problem solving and process improvement.
- Lead Technical Design Reviews to validate designs and drive decisions.
- Release parts in FEDEBOM and WERS across the product lifecycle; support the Change Control Meeting.
- Audit and update the BOM with correct part levels and usage for prototypes and maintain it after Job 1.
- Identify required validation, durability, and functional tests per requirements; maintain the DVP / FEDE DVP dashboard.
- Resolve issues during digital and build phases of product development.
- Analyze Program Direction Letters and Trim Spiders to account for EDS implications.
- Propose strategies to minimize giveaway cost and reduce total part count.
- Suggest design optimizations supported by benchmarking data.
- Develop and maintain build level complexity charts and perform Harness Complexity Analysis.
- Provide engineering cost estimates and verify prototype requirements at the part level.
- Sign off parts in manufacturing and assembly, assisting with quality issue resolution at milestones.
- Support prototype and production build events for forward model programs and participate in quality forums as required.
- Ensure GPDS deliverables for applicable milestones, and submit invention disclosures and process improvements.
- Complete required training per calendar year objectives and maintain willingness to travel out of state and to Mexico/Central America.
Requirements
- Minimum five years of experience as a Design Release Engineer, with design and release of wiring harnesses for low voltage programs and launch experience.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Strong English proficiency in written and spoken communication.
