Job Description
Electrical Engineer position at Tripler Army Medical Center, HI (onsite), under Direct Hire Authority (DHA), with an annual salary of USD 101,092 - 129,129.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, scoping, design, construction, and overall direction of major projects, ensuring coordinated execution across teams.
- Serve as the electrical design expert, reviewing systems to confirm alignment with project requirements.
- Perform field data collection, assessments, and troubleshooting for electrical infrastructure including power distribution, lighting, security, and communications.
- Apply broad management and engineering practices to guide project goals and delivery within the Medical Center’s operations.
- Provide electrical design guidance across initiatives covering power, lighting, security, and communications systems.
- Act as Project Manager for assigned projects, overseeing overall management, control, coordination, and execution across the Medical Center’s area of operation.
- Advise on complex electrical design challenges, coordinate with stakeholders, and uphold quality control for electrical work.
- Coordinate planning, design, cost engineering, construction, environmental restoration, and related activities for engineering projects.
- Join design review meetings to deliver technical input and resolve electrical design issues.
- Oversee construction and site preparation associated with the Capital Equipment Program (CEEP) and the Medical Capital Equipment Program (MEDCASE).
Requirements
- Citizenship: US Citizens.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering. Programs must be ABET-accredited, or alternatively provide calculus-based coursework with substantial engineering science content.
- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that includes coordinating facility improvements or building repairs; assisting in setting engineering goals for maintenance; providing engineering guidance or developing solutions to utility or building maintenance issues; and ensuring work complies with established standards.
- Appointment and Suitability: Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation; a one-year probationary period unless the 5 CFR Part 315 requirements have been previously met.
- Vaccination: Mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement, with annual updates.
- Travel: Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of approximately 10% of the time.
- Mission Essential: Position may be designated as Mission Essential; incumbent must report to work during contingencies, natural disasters, extreme weather, or other emergencies.
- Financial Disclosure: Pre-employment financial disclosure and annual updates in accordance with DoD directives.
- Work Schedule: Shift work required to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations; rotations occur on a regular basis.
- Medical Requirements: Pre-employment physical examination and annual examinations to maintain fitness for duties.
- Background Investigation: Position is subject to a background investigation to determine suitability for Federal employment.
