Estimating Engineer

This internal role supports the sales team by preparing cost estimates for new product introductions and modeling manufacturing costs for extrusion, secondary processes, and injection molding using an in-house tool. The position works closely with development and process engineering teams as part of the engineering group.

Responsibilities

• Ensure cost estimates are delivered promptly and accurately, with clear explanation of methods and underlying assumptions.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to understand process capabilities and constraints.
• Maintain and refine the cost model to reflect process changes or new capabilities.
• Conduct post project reviews of estimates to assess model accuracy and drive process improvements.
• Participate in ongoing product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist the Engineering group with design projects and new product introduction trials.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong analytical abilities and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Windows suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks; AutoCAD experience is helpful but not required.
• Understanding of ERP systems; IQMS experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills for internal stakeholder interactions.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to multitask and manage projects effectively.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with a mechanical or industrial focus preferred; commensurate experience or a 2 year degree/certificate is acceptable.
• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in rubber or plastic profile extrusion preferred.
• Estimating experience of 2 years preferred.
