Lead Data Engineer - SAP HANA
Job Description
Dorman Products offers a leadership focused, hybrid data engineering role in Colmar, PA, centered on architecting, building, and optimizing an enterprise SAP HANA data ecosystem. This position combines strategic vision with hands-on delivery, including mentoring a team and driving BI modernization. The role is onsite two days per week and comes with a competitive compensation range of USD 102,900 to USD 153,100 annually.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end data warehousing solutions using dimensional modeling approaches
- Develop and maintain enterprise data models (conceptual, logical, physical) to support analytics and operations
- Optimize SAP HANA models and views (Calculation, CDS, and Standard SQL) for performance and reusability
- Define and enforce modeling standards, naming conventions, and best practices across projects
- Integrate data and semantic models with Microsoft Azure analytics services
- Oversee the development and support of ETL processes and data integration solutions
- Partner with ETL and reporting developers to architect scalable, high-performing solutions
- Support SLT replication setup to ensure real-time data synchronization with SAP ECC
- Manage and optimize cloud-based data platforms
- Collaborate with SAP administration teams on HANA upgrades, migrations, and environment refreshes
- Use GitHub for version control and deployment coordination of HANA objects
- Identify and resolve database performance and scalability issues
- Integrate data quality tools and maintain detailed data lineage and source-to-target mappings
- Review technical designs to ensure alignment with architectural standards
- Support the Quality Assurance team with testing efforts
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement
- Drive modernization of BI infrastructure by evaluating and adopting emerging technologies
- Implement the strategic vision for data engineering and BI platforms
- Work with product managers, business analysts, and development teams to translate business requirements into sound data architecture
- Communicate complex architectural concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Participate in data governance and architecture review meetings to ensure consistency and compliance

Requirements
- Experience with SAP HANA and other relational databases (eg SQL Server)
- Relational and dimensional modeling (ER models, star and snowflake schemas)
- Familiarity with ETL tools and frameworks (SAP Data Services, SLT)
- Working knowledge of reporting and analytics tools (SAP Business Objects, Qlik, Power BI)
- Understanding of SAP ECC and SAP SCM/APO data structures and integration methods
- Experience with Microsoft Azure analytics services β Data Fabric, Data Lake, Delta Lake, Databricks
- Experience with GitHub for version control
- Knowledge of Jira for project tracking
- SAP HANA experience: 1 year (Required)
- Education: Bachelor's degree
- Minimum experience: 2 years
