Job Description
A licensed electrical engineer will serve as a Solar Farm Interconnect Specialist, guiding electrical system design, interconnection processes, and project coordination for solar projects ranging from 1 to 10 MW. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement with roughly 75% remote work and 25% on-site time in Champaign, Illinois.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and evaluation of electrical systems for solar farm interconnections, ensuring alignment with local codes and utility requirements.
- Produce detailed schematics, system diagrams, and technical documentation using AutoCAD and other CAD tools.
- Coordinate with project teams to establish schedules, monitor progress, and ensure timely achievement of milestones.
- Prepare comprehensive interconnection applications, technical reports, and system schematics for utility approval processes.
- Collaborate with construction teams during execution to address technical challenges related to electrical systems and interconnection points.
- Apply mechanical knowledge and systems engineering principles to integrate electrical components within the overall project design.
- Travel within Central Illinois up to 25% to support project needs and site assessments.
Requirements
- Valid Professional Engineer license in Illinois or eligibility for licensure in Illinois, with demonstrated electrical engineering experience.
- Proven expertise in electrical system design and interconnections for renewable energy projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Experience in project management, including scheduling, resource allocation, and stakeholder coordination.
- Knowledge of solar farm construction practices and electrical infrastructure installation.
- Familiarity with schematics development, systems engineering processes, and mechanical aspects of power systems.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and regulatory agencies.
