RISE Software Engineer

Intuitive Surgical is hiring a RISE Software Engineer to join the RISE Rotations program in Sunnyvale, CA. This onsite role runs as a 2-year program featuring four 6-month rotations across different functions and business units, building broad technical exposure while supporting ongoing engineering work.

Each rotation may involve areas such as product design, manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, supplier engineering, and process engineering. At the end of the program, rotation participants can interview for permanent positions within Intuitive.

Program overview

• Complete four 6-month assignments across various functions and business units
• Work as part of a 2-year RISE rotations program at Intuitive Science and Engineering
• Gain experience across potential disciplines including product design, manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, supplier engineering, and process engineering
• Interview for permanent roles following the rotations

Responsibilities

• Support key technical projects across business units
• Transfer project knowledge and key information to other RISE Engineers
• Network with a mentor and other Intuitive employees to deepen understanding of the organization
• Attend RISE training sessions to build both technical and soft skills

Requirements

• Strong technical ability to learn new concepts and apply them to problem-solving and solutions
• Self-starter with the ability to operate in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment
• Ability to follow manager guidance, work direction, and deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Competency in C, C++, C#, python
• Strong writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Flexible and open-minded
• Effective communication in both written and oral forms
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field

• Salary range: USD 117,000 - 186,300 per year
• Base compensation range region 1: $137,700 USD - $186,300 USD
• Base compensation range region 2: $117,000 USD - $158,400 USD
