Job Description
A senior level hardware engineering role focused on Navy systems, onsite at Washington Navy Yard, DC, combining hardware design, development, testing, and integration of RF/TDL components.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, and test computer systems and components including processors, circuit boards, and memory devices.
- Create technical schematics, support manufacturing processes, and improve overall system speed, reliability, and efficiency.
- Work primarily in laboratory environments and collaborate with software teams to ensure hardware and software compatibility, applying electronics, programming, and troubleshooting expertise.
- Conduct data analysis by interpreting and summarizing technical results.
- Design, develop, test, evaluate, and sustain RF and Tactical Data Link (TDL) communication systems.
- Develop technical documentation such as test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Apply systems engineering disciplines to communications capabilities, including requirements analysis, interface design, logistics, training, reliability and maintainability, human factors, and test and evaluation.
- Utilize communications theory, modulation techniques, engineering design principles, and system-level concepts (e.g., link budgets, modulation schemes, end-to-end RF product development) to support mission requirements and technical objectives.
Requirements
- Active Secret clearance.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Navy and DoD policy and guidance.
- System and subsystem design capabilities.
- Manufacturing processes experience with RF components (radar/EW), electro-optic/IR focal planes (EO/IR), or high-powered pulsed laser sources and directors (Lasers).
- Product development and testing experience.
- Experience with government test, inspection, and witness standards and execution of qualification testing and production acceptance.
- Ship integration requirements, standards, documentation, and processes.
- Hardware ECPs, field changes, ORDALT/SHIPALT processes, procedures, and shipyard/waterfront operations.
- CDRL management and technical reviews.
- Criteria and assessments of waivers, deviations, and variances.
- Master’s degree required; minimum 10 years of relevant hardware engineering experience.
- Location: Washington Navy Yard, DC (onsite).

Position Description
- Provide support to the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager for a 200-person contractor team that includes subcontractor personnel.
Work Location and Telework
- Government work location is the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Contractors will be required to work at the Navy Yard and in nearby office locations up to five days per week.
- Teleworking may be possible with the customer’s approval, with arrangements evolving as work relationships develop.
Travel Requirements
- Infrequent travel with occasional trips to support government efforts on East and West Coast naval hubs (examples include Norfolk, VA and San Diego, CA).
Compensation
- USD 125,000 - 150,000 per year. Final compensation determined by location, educational background, experience, skills, and contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
