Job Description

On-site opportunity in Fridley, MN with Micro Control Company for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer. This role is based in Fridley, MN, reports to the System Design Engineering Department, and offers a salary range of USD 111,123 - 160,462 per year. Responsibilities

  • Develop DC-DC switching power supplies, handling high current (>100A) and high power (>250W) with polyphase configurations controlled by microcontrollers.
  • Conduct analog simulation and analysis of DC-DC switching converters, including buck SMPS.
  • Select components, design and enter schematics, create BOMs, and propose PCB placements.
  • Implement firmware to control power supplies via microcontrollers.
  • Write test programs to verify hardware functionality.
  • Lead a small project team and coordinate with other departments.
  • Define the design validation process and provide diagnostics templates for internal and external use.
  • Produce user manuals detailing operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaborate with Sales and customers to capture product requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Ability to work effectively as a leader, team member, and independently.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Travel up to 5% domestically and internationally.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to perform sedentary work, including sitting for extended periods.

  • May lift and move objects up to 50 pounds, 0-10% of the time.
