Job Description

Verogy is building and scaling solar projects across commercial, industrial, and utility-scale markets, and this hybrid role supports that work through high-impact electrical project engineering oversight. You will serve as a senior technical reviewer, driving design quality from early validation through drawings, field alignment, and commissioning support, while mentoring engineers and coordinating across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical reviewer for C&I and utility-scale solar projects, ensuring engineering packages are accurate, complete, code-compliant, and constructible.
  • Lead electrical design reviews, including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, equipment schedules, inverter layouts, protection schemes, cable sizing, grounding, and system modeling results.
  • Perform technical validation for performance and energy outputs, including capacity tests, load calculations, PV system performance validations, and high-level energy modeling reviews.
  • Ensure integration across mechanical, electrical, and civil design components so systems function properly and align with site conditions.
  • Provide technical direction to internal teams, subcontractors, and external engineering partners across all phases of the project.
  • Review and manage electrical design drawings for issued-for-bid, issued-for-construction, and as-built packages.
  • Identify constructability challenges, code issues, or performance risks, then drive resolution across engineering and construction teams.
  • Coordinate and track drawing revisions with strong version control to ensure timely updates.
  • Complete advanced markup and redline reviews in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other design tools.
  • Serve as the technical point of contract for IEs and financiers to support diligence requirements and communicate key design assumptions.
  • Participate in engineering calls, lender reviews, and due-diligence sessions to validate design soundness and address technical questions.
  • Collaborate with procurement to evaluate equipment submittals, review vendor spec sheets, validate compatibility, and support technical negotiations.
  • Conduct site walks, field validations, and constructability assessments; compare field conditions to design intent and flag discrepancies.
  • Support QC by verifying electrical and mechanical components are installed per approved drawings, manufacturer requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Review commissioning test plans, functional test procedures, and system acceptance criteria.
  • Advise Project Managers and Program Managers on technical risks, schedule impacts, and engineering dependencies.
  • Support EPC-as-a-Service teams during pre-construction to maintain engineering alignment with pricing assumptions and scope development.
  • Mentor junior engineers and strengthen the technical capability of the broader project team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • 7+ years of solar engineering experience, including C&I and utility-scale PV design or technical oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and applicable codes, including NEC utility interconnection requirements and IEEE standards, plus grounding and protection schemes.
  • Advanced experience reviewing PV system designs, electrical calculations, capacity studies, and energy modeling outputs (including PVSyst or equivalent).
  • Experience working directly with IEs, financiers, and due diligence teams.
  • Ability to interpret 2D electrical and mechanical drawings, 3D spatial layouts, and complex system documentation.
  • Expertise in PV components and system integration, including racking, modules, inverters, combiner boxes, transformers, and BOS.
  • Proven capability to resolve engineering design conflicts and drive technical decisions in complex field environments.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam; experience with Civil 3D or other 3D modeling tools is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of site and civil constraints affecting PV design, including grading, seatbacks, clearances, and access.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Procore and project management tools, plus document control processes.
  • OSHA 10/30 preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive Salary (USD 135,000 - 150,000 per year)
  • 401(k) with Company Contribution
  • Health Benefits including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • Quarterly Bonus Program
  • Performance Based End-of-Year Bonus Program
  • Paid Holidays (total of 10 days per full calendar year of employment)
  • Three (3) Weeks Paid Vacation per full calendar year of employment

Work Environment

  • Hybrid role with field site visits as needed.
  • Must be comfortable walking construction sites, climbing ladders, and working in outdoor environments.
