The Senior Software Engineer role at Great River Technology, a Data Device Corporation subsidiary, focuses on architecting, developing, verifying, and maintaining Windows and Linux software for advanced hardware systems across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers in a regulated mil/aero environment.
Description
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will architect, develop, verify, and sustain Windows and Linux software for sophisticated hardware platforms. You will work through the full software lifecycle, from requirements capture and hardware integration to ongoing maintenance, while partnering with multiple teams and guiding junior engineers to apply modern software practices in a heavily regulated aerospace and defense context.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain high-performance C/C++ software components, including GUI-based front-end test applications and API wrapper DLLs for SDK products on Windows and Linux.
- Perform hardware/software integration, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Develop and execute automated test scripts to achieve full verification of deliverable software.
- Lead technical design reviews, diagnose complex system-level issues, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and architectural guidance.
- Identify and resolve customer technical issues related to software applications and SDK.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
- Core language skills: Deep proficiency in C/C++ with strong scripting abilities in Python or Bash for automation and data analysis.
- System knowledge: Experience developing software for custom FPGA-based hardware.
- Embedded protocols: Familiarity with data buses and communication protocols such as PCIe, USB, ARINC 818, and Ethernet.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft DDK, Qt and OpenCV.
- Experience with MATLAB and LabView.
- Embedded software and RTOS experience is a plus.
- Understanding of cybersecurity.
