Job Description

Hitachi High-Tech America, Inc. is seeking a Senior Technical Support Engineer for a full-time, regular role in Hillsboro, OR (hybrid). In this position, you will support Hitachi High-Tech America’s products through escalations and field-based technical work, including installations, training, documentation, performance testing, reporting, and project ownership.

Role & Team Impact

You will coordinate and deliver technical support for customer sites in Oregon, ensuring field implementations meet expectations through careful documentation and troubleshooting support. The work also includes analyzing system performance metrics, identifying trends, and proposing improvements, while collaborating across internal groups and external clients to keep escalations moving and systems running effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Handle escalations, perform fleet performance testing, support system installations, provide training, generate documentation, and participate in special projects.
  • Train and provide guidance to other Technical Support Engineers and Yield Control Technology Engineers.
  • Support field implementation and compliance by creating and reviewing documentation for upgrades, maintenance, installations, and troubleshooting.
  • Create and present system performance data, including availability, preventive maintenance “green-to-green” time, and mean time between failures.
  • Search for performance trends and propose and carry out improvement ideas.
  • Maintain technical and product knowledge while building understanding of business variables, processes, and characteristics.
  • Collaborate with external clients and supporting Hitachi High-Tech America teams, including New Product Introduction, Technical Support Group (TSG), Service, Technology, Sales, Design, and QA.
  • Coordinate technical fieldwork as necessary.
  • Deliver technical data during high-level customer meetings between domestic and international Hitachi divisions.
  • Produce reports, including TSG reports, escalation reports, and national service alert reports.
  • Prepare and provide thorough documentation to support problem solving and engineer training.
  • Own project responsibility while applying project management methodology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related field.
  • Experience with Hitachi High kV and HF5000 Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEMs).
  • Experience with Hitachi NX5000 and Hitachi NX9000 Focused Ion Beam (FIB) systems.
  • Experience with optical technology in electron microscopy.
  • Experience with automated mechanical transfer system technology.
  • Experience with Spherical Aberration Corrector.

Travel Requirement

50% of time is required for technical and maintenance support of Hitachi High-Tech America products installed at customer sites in Oregon.
