Software Engineer

Thomas & Reed, LLC is seeking a Software Engineer to help plan, design, build, and validate software systems and applications with a strong focus on user experience (UX) innovation. The role centers on cloud-based and internet-connected tools, supporting enhancements to existing products and the creation of new solutions for customers.

This onsite position is based in Columbus, OH and is designed for an engineer with deep hands-on experience across the software lifecycle, from front-end and back-end development through integration and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, develop, and validate software systems and applications focused on UX innovation
• Deliver enhancements to existing products and develop new solutions, especially within cloud-based platforms and internet-connected tools
• Build intuitive, high-performance UX applications that support strategic product differentiation and customer satisfaction

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in software development
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++, with the ability to apply them across diverse development environments
• Experience in both front-end and back-end development, with a strong understanding of full-stack architecture and integration
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Kanban and Scrum, with practical experience in iterative development and team collaboration
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, including deployment and service integration
• Knowledge of database management systems, including SQL and NoSQL technologies, to support efficient data modeling and access
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose effective solutions
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, supporting effective teamwork across multidisciplinary groups
• Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines
• Hands-on GUI development experience using modern tools and frameworks, with an emphasis on usability and performance
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices to support secure design and implementation
