Software Engineer

Join MANTECH as an experienced Software Engineer supporting complex software systems in the San Antonio, TX area on an onsite basis. This role focuses on building, maintaining, and improving software that spans modern cloud and container approaches as well as web technologies, with opportunities to contribute to system-level decisions such as hardware/software trade-offs and the use of COTS/GOTS solutions.

What you’ll do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems based on documented requirements, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems.
• Work independently or as part of a team to review and test software components against design requirements and document test results.
• Investigate and resolve software problem reports.
• Apply software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
• Provide input to system design for software components, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and the use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development.
• Support requirements analysis and synthesis from the system level down to individual software components.

Core qualifications

• 14+ years of software development experience with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline; alternatively, 4 years of additional SWE experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience containerizing applications for creation, management, and deployment.
• Hands-on usage with Helm Charts, Rancher, Kubernetes, Docker, and Flask.
• Proficiency in Linux environments.
• Strong Python development skills.
• Front-end experience with React/TypeScript.
• Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD.
• Experience developing RESTful web applications.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes NGINX Ingress Controller and Linkerd.
• Experience with C/C++ (and Rust programming language experience).
• Experience working with MongoDB.
• Some UI development experience.
• Basic networking experience.
• Experience with products including Cisco Nexus Dashboard Orchestrator, Cisco APICs, vSphere, VMware Horizon View, IPAM, and Keycloak.
• Experience with Ansible and templates (bonus if able to write playbooks).
• Experience with system administration tasking such as certs, PKI, and troubleshooting.
• Prefer a full-stack engineer capable of both front-end and back-end development.

Security clearance requirement

Must have a current/active TS/SCI with Poly.

Physical requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time.
• Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and similar items.
• Must constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, including the copy machine/fax machine/computer/printer.
