The role combines full-stack feature development with API work, database enhancements, enterprise integrations, and day-to-day production support.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, test, debug, implement, and support software solutions that deliver business value and improve operational efficiency.
- Build full-stack features using TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Next.js, Node.js/Express, SQL, and Python.
- Develop and enhance RESTful APIs, including controllers, middleware, service layers, route handlers, and secure authentication and authorization.
- Implement database enhancements such as schema changes, migrations, indexing strategies, seed data, and query optimization.
- Integrate Ally applications with enterprise and third-party platforms, including Snowflake, Salesforce, and other business-critical systems.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Support DevOps and CI/CD practices to enable reliable deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Maintain software quality through unit testing, automated testing, code reviews, and adherence to engineering standards.
- Assist with system integration testing and user acceptance testing by analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving defects.
- Support production readiness activities including deployments, changes, service account maintenance, documentation updates, vulnerability remediation, and operational support.
- Troubleshoot application and user issues, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate with infrastructure, database, security, network, cloud/platform, and identity and access management teams to resolve issues.
- Review security findings, vulnerability assessments, and penetration-test results, and help with remediation based on technology risk and compliance requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, support runbooks, support guides, and knowledge base articles.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Participate in innovation activities such as proof-of-concepts and hackathons, along with continuous improvement efforts.
- Work primarily occurs during business hours, with scheduled after-hours support when required for production deployments, maintenance, or critical support events.
Required qualifications
- 1+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance.
- Proficiency with TypeScript and experience building applications using React (or a comparable modern front-end framework).
- REST API development/support experience with Node.js/Express (or similar), including controllers, middleware, service layers, and authentication integration.
- Experience with relational databases, SQL, and scripting languages such as Python for application development and data processing.
- Experience with source control, testing, debugging, secure coding practices, code reviews, and modern software delivery practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot application issues and support production systems through standard change, release, and support processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to create technical documentation and communicate with engineering and business stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a collaborative Agile team environment and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Independently handle well-defined assignments while partnering with senior engineers and technical leads on complex initiatives.
- High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
Beneficial experience
- Experience supporting applications used by Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk, Compliance, Controls, or other regulated business functions.
- Experience with AWS, including services such as ECS Fargate, Aurora, RDS Proxy, API Gateway, IAM, Secrets Manager, or S3.
