Software Engineer – Junior Level for Cross Domain Solutions

General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc is seeking a junior-level Software Engineer to join a cross-functional team focused on designing and developing Crypto and Cross Domain Solutions within the Space, Embedded, and Intelligence business area. This role applies software engineering concepts and agile methodology in a primarily on-site work setting in Taunton, MA.

Role Overview

The selected engineer will contribute to a team responsible for the design and development of Crypto and Cross Domain Solutions. The position emphasizes applying core software engineering principles, supporting agile development practices, and building capability as responsibilities and technical complexity increase.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a member of a cross-functional team designing and developing Crypto and Cross Domain Solutions for the Space, Embedded, and Intelligence business area
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, theories, and the software development process, including agile methodology
• Use knowledge of the software development process and agile experience to support delivery
• Quickly grasp and apply new information while taking on increasing responsibilities as complexity grows
• Work effectively in collaborative environments and contribute to team success
• Support ongoing professional development for self and others
• Identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation
• Contribute to Linux application development efforts
• Work with SELinux and Embedded Linux technologies
• Apply experience with Git and GitLab as part of development workflows
• Leverage relevant programming and scripting skills as needed across C/C++, C#, Java, Python, Rust, and Bash-related tooling
• Support tasks involving XML processing using XPath and XSD Schemas
• Use object-oriented programming practices, including Java and Java EE, as applicable
• Apply skills involving JavaScript with React, and SQL with PostgreSQL, where relevant
• Perform work in a team-oriented, personally driven, fast-paced environment

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Engineering, Science, or Math, plus 1 year of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree
• Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance required at time of hire
• Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
• Due to the nature of work performed within company facilities, U.S. citizenship is required

This role is fully on-site in Taunton, MA with some flexibility to be hybrid.

Salary

The typical salary range for this position is USD 90,098 - 99,000 per year, based on experience and other factors such as geographic location. Actual pay may vary.
