Job Description

Bradsby Group is seeking a Sr Civil Engineer focused on utility-scale renewable energy projects and high voltage infrastructure. Based in Centennial, Colorado, with remote-friendly options, this position offers a competitive annual salary of $120,000 to $165,000 plus benefits and flexible work arrangements. Join a fast-growing engineering consultancy that works across the energy and power infrastructure sector, collaborating with developers, utilities, and EPC contractors on projects from feasibility through construction. This role presents opportunities to contribute to solar, wind, BESS, substations, and transmission initiatives within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead civil design for utility-scale renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage systems.
  • Perform site feasibility analyses, grading design, stormwater management, and erosion control planning.
  • Develop equipment foundations for inverters, transformers, BESS containers, and wind turbine bases.
  • Plan access roads, crane pads, laydown areas, and overall site logistics.
  • Coordinate geotechnical investigations and integrate findings into civil and structural designs.
  • Support permitting documentation and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Provide construction support, including RFI reviews and on-site inspections.
  • Contribute to the civil and structural design of high voltage substations (AIS/GIS).
  • Design foundations, control buildings, retaining walls, oil containment systems, and cable trenches.
  • Develop grading plans and drainage systems for substations.
  • Assist with transmission line projects, including foundation design (drilled piers, spread footings, micropiles), access roads, and site restoration.
  • Coordinate closely with electrical and structural engineers to ensure integrated project outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with utility standards and applicable engineering codes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting renewable energy and/or high voltage infrastructure projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months preferred.
  • Experience with utility-scale solar, wind, or battery energy storage systems.
  • Experience with high voltage substations (69kV–500kV) and/or transmission line civil design.
  • Technical experience with site grading, earthwork design, stormwater management, hydrology calculations, and structural foundation design.
  • Experience with civil design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, and utility design requirements.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, utilities, or energy developers is highly preferred.

Location and Travel

Location: Remote with hybrid options available for certain offices.

Travel: Limited travel depending on project needs.

Reporting and Compensation

Reports to: Director of Engineering.

Compensation: $120,000 - $165,000 per year plus benefits.
