Job Description

The Sr. Software Engineer, Bioinformatics role focuses on building and supporting full stack applications that work with genetic data. The position combines software engineering, data workflow development, and API implementation within an enterprise environment, with deployment responsibilities and active participation in agile delivery.

Role Overview

Design, implement, and maintain software applications used to process and support genetic data. This role includes creating complex data workflows and pipelines, building RESTful/JSON-based services, and deploying applications in the cloud to support scalability and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain software applications.
  • Ensure solutions meet user requirements and performance standards.
  • Develop complex data workflows, pipelines, and RESTful/JSON-based APIs in an enterprise setting.
  • Deploy and manage applications to improve scalability and reliability.
  • Participate in agile activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support seamless integration and delivery.
  • Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to maintain code quality.
  • Conduct peer code reviews to support development standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ Years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in modern software development practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and testing frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and orchestrating complex data workflows, pipelines, and RESTful/JSON-based APIs.
  • Experience with PHP, Laravel, MySQL, REACT.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies.
  • Test-driven development mindset with experience writing tests.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the health industry or interest in genetics and bioinformatics.
  • Experience implementing solutions in the cloud, with AWS preferred.
  • Experience designing and working with application programming interfaces, including JSON-based RESTful APIs.

Collaboration and Availability Requirements

Education

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in the health care industry or life sciences.
  • Adaptability to new tools and technologies.
