Job Description
LG Electronics is seeking a Staff Development Engineer in Alpharetta, GA to lead HVAC product development and new product introduction activities.
Responsibilities
- Support LG's NPI product development initiatives.
- Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and program managers to deliver on-time product launches via the NPI process.
- Assess go-to-market strategies and review technical documents to ensure North America launches (US and Canada) are properly prepared.
- Partner with the project team to uphold sound engineering practices, benchmark against competitors, and identify performance-driven improvements.
- Provide engineering insights and implement improvement solutions for new product development.
- Evaluate new product performance and recommend next steps.
- Statistically analyze and interpret collected product data.
- Assess field test data using statistical methods to inform decisions.
- Identify design shortcomings and faults to pinpoint weaknesses and improvement opportunities.
- Apply strong hardware and software understanding to create acquisition models for lab purposes.
- Lead preparation of service, installation, and engineering manuals for US commercialization after launch.
- Collaborate with product support engineers on technical reviews of new and existing products and materials.
- Support cross-functional teams in creating and reviewing catalogs, brochures, submittals, guide specifications, and engineering manuals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- At least eight years of experience related to HVAC, water heating, and/or unitary products.
- Experience with VRF, A-coil, AHU, FCU, or chillers strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of vapor compression and heat transfer principles in HVAC systems.
- Experience designing evaporators, condensing units, and/or heat exchangers for residential and commercial applications.
- Exposure to a variety of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Experience with CSA, UL, or DOE certifications is a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal problem solving, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and interpreting drawings with knowledge of GD&T.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.

Compensation
Salary: USD 95,000 - 135,000 per year.
