Job Description

Bessolo Design Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced, full-time licensed Structural Engineer to support large-scale Senior Living/ILF/ALF/SNF, Surgery Centers, and Multifamily High-rise projects, covering both new construction and renovation. This onsite role in Saint Petersburg, FL focuses on delivering structural engineering work that meets client expectations while staying aligned with project budget and schedule.

The successful candidate will manage assigned projects end to end from a quality and team-performance standpoint, participate in design and construction meetings, and coordinate structural deliverables with cross-discipline partners. Responsibilities also include leading or conducting site visits to assess existing conditions and resolve structural issues during design and in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects, ensuring the overall quality of structural engineering work meets client expectations within the project budget and schedule.
  • Own complete team performance for each project in accordance with Bessolo/KEM design standards, practices, and policies.
  • Participate in project meetings during design and construction, including preparation of graphic and written construction documents.
  • Lead or self-direct site visits to evaluate existing facility conditions, identify problems, and take appropriate action during design or construction.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to Requests For Information (RFI).
  • Coordinate with Architecture, Electrical, and Mechanical drawings, and attend coordination meetings.
  • Work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Florida Licensed Professional Engineer (Required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • 5 years minimum experience in an AE environment in Structural design
  • Proven ability to design appropriate structural systems within client constraints of budget and time, while working across multiple disciplines on multiple projects
  • Experience with analysis and design for new building structures and renovations of existing buildings
  • Calculations and computer modeling for Timber, Concrete, Masonry, and Steel
  • Good knowledge of building codes and design practices
  • Experience with Commercial, Senior Living/ILF/ALF, Multifamily & High-rise, including both new construction and renovation
  • Ability to manage projects through proper prioritization and scheduling of tasks
  • Experience with Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA) on healthcare design
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
