Job Description

This onsite Structural Forensic Engineer role in Indianapolis centers on hands-on failure analysis across fieldwork, laboratory testing, and office documentation. You will apply civil engineering theory to real-world failure scenarios and deliver findings in clear, professional engineering reports.

Responsibilities

  • Complete hands-on failure analysis assignments in the field and testing facility
  • Document facts and finalize findings in engineering reports
  • Conduct technical research
  • Apply theories and knowledge to real world situations
  • Complete assignments on time as requested by client
  • Maintain ethical practices consistently
  • Convey complex issues in an understandable manner to a lay audience through report writing

Required Education and Experience

  • Master's in civil engineering
  • Ph.D. in civil engineering
  • 5 years supervisory or project management experience

Other Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Valid Driver's License in good standing, and demonstrated safe driving habits
  • Ability to pass a background check as required for the position

Position Type / Hours

This is a full-time position. Some flexibility in hours is permitted, but availability during standard work hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, is required.

Physical Demands

This position combines fieldwork, travel-related work, and sedentary work. An employee is regularly required to drive, stand, sit, walk, reach, type, talk, hear, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, push, pull, carry, and lift up to 50 pounds. The role may require traversing wooded and uneven terrain, entering structures, using ladders, walking on roofs, entering small spaces, and working in varying weather conditions.

Travel

Regular travel is required as part of the Structural Forensic Engineer role. Some overnight travel may be required.
