Job Description

Applied Information is a leading developer of connected, intelligent transportation system solutions. This on site role is based in Alpharetta, GA, with a salary range of $85,000 to $95,000 per year and a comprehensive benefits package. The Technical Sales Support Engineer will operate at the intersection of network engineering, project management, and sales support within the traffic and ITS sector, with travel up to 30% and frequent collaboration with QA, Production, and Application Engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and fix challenging network problems across diverse environments.
  • Set up and operate network firewalls, VPNs, and proxies; familiarity with IPSec, Strongswan, and Cisco is preferred.
  • Use Python and C# to automate network tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Design scalable network solutions leveraging cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred).
  • Direct projects from concept through delivery, keeping scope, schedule, and budget on track.
  • Coordinate across teams to align network engineering work with broader company goals.
  • Provide regular status updates and milestone communications to stakeholders to maintain transparency.
  • Support internal and external sales teams with technical questions throughout the sales cycle.
  • Serve as the technical single point of contact for customers, explaining deployment approaches clearly.
  • Collaborate with sales teams, partners, and clients to troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
  • Own assigned projects and seek guidance when needed to maintain momentum.
  • Foster a collaborative and energetic workplace, contributing to the momentum of new opportunities.
  • Experience with traffic controllers and other traffic management systems is preferred; traffic controller knowledge is advantageous.
  • Work on site in the Alpharetta office to collaborate with QA, Production, and Application Engineering teams.
  • Participate in hands-on testing and validation of new features, firmware, and system configurations.
  • Use lab environments and field equipment to test interoperability across a wide range of industry products.
  • Provide real-time feedback to engineering and product teams to improve performance, reliability, and deployment readiness.
  • Deliver training sessions covering the full product line to internal teams, partners, and customers.
  • Explain technical concepts, system architecture, and deployment best practices to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, including presentations, hands-on labs, and documentation.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing education to ensure successful field adoption of products.
  • Position requires up to 30% travel.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering, project management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of electrical theory.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with a focus on technical deliverables.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting networks in Linux environments.
  • Experience with NGINX, network firewalls, and cloud platforms like AWS.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with clients and internal teams.
