Technical Support Engineer-Turbine Blades & Vanes
Job Description
This onsite role in Orlando, FL, supports Siemens Energy Service Engineering by providing technical clarification and risk assessment for gas turbine hot-side components, guiding outage preparation and communicating risks to commercial teams.
Responsibilities
- Examine operational data and field observations to detect early signals of potential systemic issues across the fleet.
- Support emergent fleet findings (PCM support) and convey associated risks to commercial stakeholders.
- Lead root-cause investigations for intricate gas turbine fleet problems, with a focus on blade and vane components.
- Create and formalize best practices and standardized repair work instructions to manage higher repair volumes.
- Develop and validate advanced technical solutions and repair approaches for complex mechanical systems.
- Maintain the Risk Database, review current risks against fleet findings, and propose updates.
- Assess current part life status and coordinate life assessments to refresh the life model, then communicate updates to affected teams.
- Interfaces span Manufacturing, Field Service, Procurement, LTP, Open Market, Fleet, Design Engineering, and both internal and external customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of technical experience.
- Strong technical foundation and approach.
- Experience with gas turbine components, with a preference for hot-side turbine elements.
- Repair and or turbine design experience is highly preferred to support anticipated increases in repair volume.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
- Capability to work productively with customers and manufacturing shops.
- Travel up to 20% of the time.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
