Job Description

ASRC Energy Services is seeking a Civil Engineer to lead and support major infrastructure initiatives across Alaska’s industrial and energy sectors. Based onsite in Anchorage, the role oversees planning, design, analysis, and construction oversight of civil and structural systems, serving as a technical expert, mentor, and key project contributor to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions that meet project, regulatory, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead civil engineering efforts during project planning, including development of resource plans, man-hour estimates, technical approaches, and project execution strategies.
  • Perform and oversee advanced engineering calculations, design analyses, and technical reviews for civil and structural deliverables.
  • Review and approve engineering scopes of work, schedules, cost estimates, and design criteria across all project phases.
  • Develop and approve fabrication and construction scopes of work, specifications, material take-offs (MTOs), and change requests, ensuring constructability and alignment with design intent.
  • Identify and manage design basis or scope changes, initiate change-management documentation, and provide technical justification for recommendations.
  • Conduct and oversee quality reviews of CAD and Civil 3D modeling work, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
  • Ensure all discipline documents comply with company standards, client requirements, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices.
  • Review and validate supplier and vendor data, drawings, and technical submittals for compliance with project design specifications.
  • Manage and monitor project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and resource utilization.
  • Lead interdisciplinary document reviews, coordination meetings, and technical interface discussions to ensure project cohesion and clarity.
  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and mentorship to engineers, designers, drafters, and engineering technicians.
  • Ensure team compliance with company and client policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Champion AES’s zero-incident safety culture by modeling safe work practices and embedding safety considerations into engineering decisions and field activities.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Have 5 - 10 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in the oil and gas or construction industries.
  • Possess an Active Alaska Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Civil Engineering.
  • Have experience in civil engineering design related to industrial facilities, site development, roads, pads, drainage, foundations, and Arctic or cold-region environments (preferred).
  • Display advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and civil engineering analysis tools; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Be able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and professionally with internal teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong ability to evaluate complex problems, develop engineering solutions, and guide decision-making in fast-paced project environments.
  • Have a strong understanding of safety regulations and the ability to integrate safe practices into engineering and construction activities.

Working on the North Slope

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc.
