Job Description

Goodin Company relies on reliable data to keep distribution operations running efficiently, especially during peak HVAC seasonality. In this Data Engineer role, you will build and maintain the reporting foundation that turns ERP and point-of-sale information into dashboards, pipelines, and automated outputs used by sales, purchasing, warehouse, and vendor stakeholders.

Based in Minneapolis, MN (onsite), this position focuses on delivering accurate metrics for inventory decisions, pricing accuracy, and day-to-day operational performance across multiple systems.

What you’ll do

  • Design and maintain dashboards for distribution metrics including inventory turns, fill rates, branch sales performance, gross margin by product line, and vendor rebate tracking.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries against ERP data (such as Infor CloudSuite or similar distribution ERP) to support pricing, purchasing, and sales reporting.
  • Build automated reporting to compare branch/location performance, identify slow-moving vs. fast-moving SKUs, and track seasonal demand trends.
  • Support reporting and reconciliation for rebate and vendor incentive programs.
  • Automate recurring reports for sales teams, purchasing managers, and branch operations to reduce manual Excel effort.
  • Create and maintain data pipelines feeding from ERP, WMS, and e-commerce/B2B ordering platforms into the reporting and data warehouse layer.
  • Monitor data integrity across item master data, pricing tables, vendor catalogs, and multi-warehouse inventory records.
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies across systems, including ERP vs. WMS inventory counts and EDI order data mismatches.
  • Support data cleanup for SKU rationalization, vendor part number cross-referencing, and pricing matrix accuracy.
  • Support and troubleshoot ERP reporting modules and EDI transactions with vendors and manufacturers.
  • Document data sources, report logic, and distribution business rules such as pricing tiers, contract pricing, and rebate calculations.
  • Ensure reporting supports sales tax, compliance, and audit requirements across multi-state branches.
  • Work with end users and sales leadership to understand reporting needs tied to HVAC seasonality and product mix.
  • Present inventory and sales performance insights in a clear format for non-technical branch staff.
  • Train counter/branch staff and sales reps on accessing dashboards and using self-service reporting tools.

What you bring
