Job Description

Design Engineer position at Amphenol Energy Technologies in Des Plaines, IL (onsite), focused on researching, designing, and developing new products, systems, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and evaluate new materials, components, and fabrication methods to inform robust product design
  • Create, test, and refine prototypes and engineered solutions to meet performance and manufacturability goals
  • Produce, maintain, and update engineering drawings, models, and detailed specifications used across design and production
  • Analyze test data to validate design performance and ensure compliance with requirements
  • Advance manufacturing processes, optimize workflows, and reduce cycle times while preserving quality
  • Support continuous improvement programs by identifying opportunities and implementing improvements
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and operations teams to align design with production realities
  • Control design related production costs and implement efficiency improvements across the lifecycle
  • Oversee design deployment through the production phase, ensuring specification adherence and smooth transition to mass production
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable regulatory and quality standards throughout development and production

  • Exceptional attention to detail and precision in engineering work
  • Strong collaboration and effective communication skills to work across disciplines
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and their impact on design
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards applicable to the product domain
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and evolving project requirements
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning and staying current with engineering practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with Electrical Engineering preferred, or an equivalent field
  • At least five years of relevant design engineering experience
  • Proficiency with CAD software and related engineering tools
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Experience with electrical systems, cabling, connectors, or power applications is preferred
