Desktop Support Engineer

Axiom Technologies is hiring an on-demand Desktop Support Engineer for onsite support in Elkton, Virginia, USA. This is an independent contractor role focused on first and second-level desktop and IT support for end users at the client location. Assignments are coordinated by the Service Delivery Team, with engineers notified in advance with site details and reporting time.

What you’ll do

• Provide on-site desktop and IT support for end users at the client location.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues on Windows desktops and laptops, including peripherals.
• Install, configure, and maintain hardware, operating systems, and enterprise software applications.
• Support network connectivity issues, including LAN troubleshooting.
• Assist with device setup, replacement, and hardware installations.
• Perform basic network troubleshooting using console access when required.
• Document service activities and communicate updates to the service delivery team.
• Follow client IT policies and security procedures during onsite work.

Skills and qualifications

• Spanish proficiency is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and desktop environments.
• Experience with hardware troubleshooting and hardware replacement.
• Basic understanding of networking, including LAN connectivity and switches and routers.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve desktop, printer, and peripheral issues.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently in onsite support environments.
• U.S. Citizens and Green Card Holders preferred.

Work model

• On-demand / field support role.
• Work assignments are shared by the Service Delivery Team.
• Engineers are contacted via phone or email when support is required.
• Before each assignment, engineers receive site location, SPOC details, and reporting time.
• No guaranteed number of working hours.
