Lead Engineer, Transmission Lines

ESP Associates seeks a Lead Engineer, Transmission Lines to provide senior engineering leadership on complex HV and EHV overhead transmission design projects, guiding a multidisciplinary team and ensuring quality, schedule adherence, and strong client relationships. The role is based in Ann Arbor, MI, with a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and drafters
• Set clear performance expectations, goals, and project vision
• Oversee team performance and delegate project work
• Provide coaching and mentorship to team members
• Direct projects to ensure quality deliverables and on-time completion
• Review and approve engineering design submittals
• Develop lasting relationships with clients
• Estimate projects and develop proposals
• Line routing
• Survey coordination
• PLS-CADD modeling
• Structure design
• Foundation design
• Clearance checks
• Plan/profile development
• Material specification and procurement
• Constructability evaluations
• Work order package preparation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification (required)
• 10+ years of related transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry (required)
• Extensive experience using PLS-CADD (required)
