Role Overview

As a Lead Engineer for Transmission Lines, you will provide leadership and senior technical expertise on complex high voltage and extra high voltage overhead transmission projects. You will ensure client requirements for quality and schedule are met while keeping the team engaged and valued for input. The role requires hands-on leadership and involvement in line routing, survey coordination, PLS-CADD modeling, structure and foundation design, clearance checks, plan/profile development, material specification and procurement, constructability evaluations, work order package preparation, permitting, vendor and subcontractor coordination, and construction support.

Your Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of engineers, technicians, and drafters, establishing clear expectations and a shared vision
  • Communicate goals, expectations, and project direction effectively
  • Oversee team performance and delegate project tasks
  • Inspire, coach, and mentor team members
  • Plan and manage projects to ensure quality outcomes and on-time delivery
  • Review and approve engineering design submittals
  • Build lasting relationships with clients
  • Provide project estimates and contribute to proposal development

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification (required)
  • 10 or more years of transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry (required)
  • Extensive experience with PLS-CADD (required)
  • PLS-TOWER experience (preferred)
  • Strong experience with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI
  • Extensive experience coordinating with substation, environmental, real estate, construction, and maintenance stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of industry standards and methods across engineering, procurement, and construction
  • Strong project management capabilities
  • Commitment to working safely and adhering to safety regulations
  • Self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, unstructured, deadline-driven environment
  • Proven leadership ability and aptitude to guide other team members and projects
  • Strong collaboration skills with team members and peers in the electrical utility industry
  • Effective business and technical communication skills (verbal, written, and presentations)
  • Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and maintain a satisfactory driving record per company policy
