Principal Software Engineer

Relias US is seeking a Principal Engineer to act as a top-level technical authority across the engineering organization. In this onsite role in Morrisville, NC, you will help set strategic technical direction, support multiple teams, and drive adoption of modern cloud and microservices practices across the organization.

You will combine hands-on expertise with architectural leadership, shaping decisions that improve scalability, resilience, and the quality of software delivered across the business.

Role focus

• Architectural leadership: Design and oversee implementation of microservices architectures, with an emphasis on scalability, resilience, and alignment to business goals.
• Technical expertise: Provide technical guidance and mentorship for engineers at all levels as a resource and subject-matter expert.
• Innovation and strategy: Lead evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies and practices that support innovation and competitive advantage.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with product management, operations, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Code quality assurance: Maintain high code quality through rigorous code reviews and adherence to software development best practices.
• Process improvement: Identify and drive initiatives to improve development processes, tooling, and methodologies to foster a culture of excellence.

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of experience developing software
• 6+ years with modern object-oriented languages (C# preferred)
• 3+ years as a technical lead or senior software engineer guiding a team
• 4+ years working in cloud environments (Azure preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree
• Microsoft AZ-900: Azure Fundamentals (if not current, must be obtained within the first 60 days of start date)
• Azure AI-200 Certification (if not current, must be obtained within the first 6 months of start date)

Compensation and location

• Location: Morrisville, NC (onsite)
• Salary: USD 15,000 - 180,000 per year
• Office expectation: Approximately 30 days/quarter at Relias US Morrisville, NC Headquarters
• In-office requirement: Must live in the state of North Carolina within commuting distance to the office
