Job Description

Senior Civil Engineer with a P.E. license and 5–8+ years of site development experience, onsite in Columbia, SC, seeking to step into a larger role with immediate impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage site development projects for commercial, industrial, residential, multi-family, and municipal clients.
  • Prepare and oversee civil design plans covering site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and erosion control.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and prepare supporting engineering reports.
  • Coordinate with architects, planners, surveyors, permitting agencies, and internal engineering staff.
  • Review and seal plans, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist in project scheduling, budgeting, and task delegation.
  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to proposal development.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support staff.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of progressive experience in civil/site design and land development.
  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in South Carolina required.
  • Experience with commercial, mixed-use development, residential infill, and multi-family projects.
  • Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking for atypical projects.
  • Proficiency in engineering software, such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (required); Master’s degree a plus.
  • Knowledge of ADA compliance, roadway design, and utility coordination.
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies and municipal staff.
  • Construction administration and field experience.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management systems and related design processes.
  • Strong understanding of local zoning codes, permitting processes, and utility design standards.
  • Effective communication, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork skills.
