Senior Civil Engineer III
Job Description
Business Control Systems, LP is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer III to lead civil and structural design efforts on nuclear facility projects. This senior role combines engineering design execution, project coordination, QA/QC oversight, and mentoring, operating on a hybrid schedule from Seneca, SC, with a competitive hourly range of $75 to $80.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review civil and structural design packages for nuclear facilities, covering site development, foundations, drainage, and structural systems
- Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and design evaluations in alignment with nuclear codes and standards
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex and non-routine problems with limited supervision
- Verify that designs comply with regulatory, safety, and quality requirements (NRC, ASME, ACI, AISC)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (I&C, electrical, mechanical, project controls) to integrate design solutions
- Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and external engineering firms to support project execution
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical meetings
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables including drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
- Support configuration control, change management, and design modifications within nuclear quality standards
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and nuclear safety culture expectations
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Support development of engineering standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Solve complex engineering problems with limited supervision and demonstrate ownership of deliverables
- Contribute to technical leadership and mentoring within the team
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (required)
- 10+ years of civil engineering experience, preferably within nuclear, power generation, or heavy industrial environments
- Experience in structural and foundation design
- Site development and grading expertise
- Drainage and stormwater system design knowledge
- Knowledge of nuclear codes and standards (NRC, ASME, ACI, AISC)
- Proficiency with design and analysis tools (STAAD, SAP2000, AutoCAD, Civil 3D)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
