Senior Design Engineer H/F
Job Description
The Senior Design Engineer drives multi-disciplinary design efforts across electronic, firmware/software, optical/electrical, and microelectronic assemblies within OIS optoelectronic module development, guiding concepts through production with a focus on quality, manufacturability, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Drive the design and development of new products and enhancements across electrical, electronic, photonic, mechanical, and thermal domains.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for electronic and embedded systems.
- Own product or sub-product design within development projects, defining design strategies and schedules.
- Perform design risk analyses and craft mitigation plans; collaborate with the project manager to continuously assess project risks.
- Own and document the design process per Radiall's development procedures.
- Carry out advanced simulations, calculations, and tolerance analyses to validate performance.
- Develop detailed CAD models, drawings, and documentation across all development phases.
- Innovate and adapt designs to meet evolving customer and manufacturing requirements for complex programs.
- Implement design-to-cost strategies throughout the product lifecycle.
- Propose and implement design changes to enhance performance, reliability, or manufacturability.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to define production methods, repair procedures, and process improvements.
- Assess customer specifications for compliance and implement corrective design actions as required.
- Coordinate with Sales, Quality, and Production to ensure project alignment and customer satisfaction.
- Review customer specifications for technical feasibility and prepare supporting documentation and quotes.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers as needed.
Requirements
- Master of Science in Electronic Engineering or a related Electrical/Electronic engineering field.
- 8+ years of experience in electronic product design and development.
- Experience with electronic design systems, coding languages, and development software (C, C++, Python).
- Project management experience.
- Proficiency with eCAD tools, simulation software, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Solid knowledge of electronic design principles, micro-electronic assembly, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with design validation, testing, and documentation best practices.
- Familiarity with floor and cleanroom environments and hands-on assembly process optimization.
- Comfort with practical activities and test lab environments.
- Experience with DFMEA and general project management.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to own projects and deliver high-quality, cost-effective designs.
