Senior OSP Engineer

Ziply Fiber offers a remote Senior OSP Engineer role based in Burlington, WA with a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 88,861 to 113,035. The position leads planning and engineering for fiber outside plant facilities, overseeing budgeting and scheduling, coordinating ROW and permitting, and serving as a subject matter expert and single point of contact across Ziply Fiber departments and external vendors for outside plant projects. This role supports collaboration, training, and ongoing career growth through education reimbursement programs and a quarterly performance bonus.

Responsibilities

• Support leadership with reporting and escalations.
• Provide guidance, support, and training to internal FTEs and external vendors.
• Proactively review outside plant facilities to determine upgrades and enhancements needed.
• Communicate with states, counties, cities, and national entities to gather information on planned growth and changes.
• Coordinate with utilities for project design and construction to utilize joint trench where possible.
• Apply for all required permits (State, DNR, City, County, Townships).
• Maintain and investigate ROWs and easements for releases.
• Coordinate with peers and departments to ensure proper project planning.
• Maintain accurate cable records and update them according to as-built documentation.
• Attend pre-construction meetings for project designs.
• Prepare cost estimates for BDTs.
• Support sales, marketing, operations and regulatory as needed.
• Perform other duties to support the business and evolving organization.
• Mentor and train lower tier engineers to enhance technical ability and experience.
• Be available to work during regular Pacific Standard Time business hours.
• Be available to work on-call, evenings and weekends as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience, or at least three years of experience in an outside plant position.
• Minimum of three years of telecommunications outside plant construction project management experience and inventory management experience.
• Minimum of three years of ROW, private easement, and permitting experience with local, state, and federal entities.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of outside plant design, cable count layout, and capacities.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
• Knowledge of outside plant activity and engineering tools, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
• Strong organizational, written and oral communication, and customer relations skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with engineering teams, regional managers, vendors, local supervisors, and technicians.
• Ability to manage multiple projects across different stages and meet critical deadlines.
• Ability to drive for the company in a safe and responsible manner.
• Be available to work during regular Pacific Standard Time business hours.
• Be available to work on-call, evenings and weekends as needed.
