Job Description

Join Brooks Automation in Chelmsford, MA (hybrid) to build embedded software that supports robotics and automation products, from motion control to diagnostics and field support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software for new and legacy products within the Robotics Automation Group, including robot motion control, vacuum chamber sub-system interfaces, and self-diagnostics
  • Work with cross-functional engineering, product management, and customers to define software features that support Design-in-Wins
  • Create and share software requirements and design changes with peers and participate in design reviews
  • Deliver reliable, high-quality software using automated testing best practices
  • Contribute to Zero Defects initiatives by researching and evaluating process improvements or new tools to strengthen DevOps software development
  • Collaborate on the design of test equipment and the setup of robotic hardware or systems
  • Support manufacturing and field service engineers with remote or on-site troubleshooting and investigation of field issues

Requirements

  • Proficiency in C++11 or later
  • Experience with embedded real-time systems in multi-threaded, interrupt-driven environments (examples: QNX or Real-Time Linux)
  • Experience with BSP and low-level hardware interface development, including FPGA integration, hardware abstraction layers (HAL), interrupt handling, and board bring-up
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design best practices
  • Experience working in a team using modern SDLC practices, including revision control, remote debuggers, and software release processes, ideally in an Agile environment

Compensation

  • Base Salary Range: USD 105,593.46 to 142,861.74 per year
  • Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus
  • Starting pay within the range may depend on geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications
