Software Engineer

Charles Schwab is seeking a hands-on Full Stack Software Engineer to serve as an individual contributor within Corporate Risk Management. In this hybrid role, you will develop and support scalable risk management applications and data solutions across front-end, back-end, cloud, data, and DevOps capabilities, including real-time services, web applications, analytics, and operational workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and enhance scalable .NET applications, web services, APIs, and responsive web user interfaces in a cloud environment.
• Implement business logic and technical solutions supporting risk management processes, models, and operational workflows.
• Build, optimize, and support data pipelines, data integrations, and complex queries using BigQuery, SQL, Oracle, or comparable technologies.
• Develop front-end solutions using JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks and libraries such as Angular, plus HTML and CSS.
• Deploy and manage cloud-native applications and services on Google Cloud Platform, including Cloud Run and Cloud Functions.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, infrastructure and deployment processes, and cloud resource management practices.
• Write clean, secure, maintainable code; debug applications; review pull requests; and contribute to solution design and technical documentation.
• Identify and remediate code quality issues, vulnerabilities, code smells, and application security findings.
• Organize and automate release and configuration management activities to improve delivery reliability and repeatability.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement durable corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, integrate, and deliver high-quality features and platform enhancements.
• Contribute in an Agile-Scrum team by managing multiple deliverables, driving process improvements, and evaluating relevant technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on software development experience using C# and .NET.
• Experience designing and developing web services, APIs, and cloud-based applications.
• Working knowledge of front-end development using JavaScript or TypeScript, Angular (or comparable framework), HTML, and CSS.
• Strong SQL skills with relational databases and data engineering concepts.
• Experience with unit and integration testing, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD technologies.
• Understanding of secure software development, code quality controls, and vulnerability remediation.
• Experience working in an Agile-Scrum environment and collaborating across engineering, quantitative, architecture, and business teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly, document solutions and operating procedures, and drive work to completion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GCP, AWS, Azure, hybrid-cloud architectures, BI tools, or big-data platforms.

Location and Work Model

Locations: Southlake, TX; Orlando, FL; Chicago, IL (hybrid)

• Schedule: M-F during standard business hours
• Hybrid model: 4 days in-office, 1 day working from home
