Job Description
Barefoot Solutions is hiring a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain software applications that address business and user needs. This onsite role in San Diego, CA brings you into a collaborative environment with product, design, and engineering teams, where dependable and scalable solutions matter.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain software applications and services.
- Write clean, efficient, reusable, and well-documented code.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define technical requirements.
- Develop and integrate APIs, databases, and third-party services.
- Test, debug, and troubleshoot software defects.
- Participate in code reviews and follow established development standards.
- Improve application performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Maintain existing systems and implement new features.
- Document software architecture, technical decisions, and development processes.
- Follow secure coding practices and software quality guidelines.
Core requirements
- Experience in software engineering or application development.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, or TypeScript.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
- Familiarity with databases, SQL, APIs, and Git (or similar version control).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a development team.

Common tools and platforms for this role include Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, TypeScript, React, Angular, Node.js, Django, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, CI/CD, Git, SQL, and APIs, with development practices in Agile and Scrum.
Helpful background (preferred)
- Experience with React, Angular, Node.js, or Django.
- Familiarity with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment practices.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
- Understanding of application security and performance optimization.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Compensation and location
Salary: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
