Software Engineer III

Walmart is hiring a Software Engineer III for an onsite role in Bentonville, AR (2914 Se I St). In this position, you will help deliver scalable, secure software across the full development lifecycle while partnering with cross-functional teams.

The work includes designing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality code, with opportunities to integrate advanced AI and machine learning components to enhance platform capabilities. You will also mentor peers, support innovation, and help keep engineering efforts aligned with Walmart standards for strong operational performance.

About the team

• The Walmart Finance Technology – Finance Data Factory (FDF) team builds advanced data platforms and workflows for large-scale data processing used in visualization and downstream applications.
• Using machine learning and statistical modeling, the team improves transparency, governance, and automation.
• The team works to enhance business partner experiences by standardizing core processes and applying reporting and predictive analytics to provide timely insights.
• Members collaborate to design, develop, and maintain scalable, data-driven solutions that support decision-making and operational excellence.

Minimum qualifications

• Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area, plus 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
• Option 2: 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area. Walmart values experience creating inclusive digital experiences.
• Knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating accessibility into digital products.
• Background in accessibility best practices and experience contributing to accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines.
• Masters: Computer Science.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of software development
• Professional frontend development using JavaScript, HTML/CSS, ReactJs or next.js
• Strong experience with Java, Spring framework, Kafka, SQL, and cloud
• Strong experience in RESTful Microservices
• Container technologies such as Docker on Kubernetes
• Cloud native technology experience, including CI/CD (KITT)
• Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
• Strong UI stack experience using React JS and React native
• Experience with UI testing frameworks such as Jest
• Software development (Java or Python; Pyspark is preferable)
• Solid Java stack skills including Spring, Maven, Hibernate
• Strong experience with cloud services using Azure or Google GCP
• Experience with CI/CD using Jenkins or Travis
• Experience with message stream systems including Pub/Sub (Kafka) and RabbitMQ
• Minimum 4 years of software development

• Salary: USD 90,000 - 180,000 per year
