Job Description

This Technical Support Engineer role provides technical leadership and both remote and on-site support for offshore wind turbine service operations, based in Massachusetts with remote work flexibility. The position serves as the primary contact for service operations leadership, production engineers, supervisors, and technicians, and drives continuous improvement in service activity preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level remote technical troubleshooting for turbine issues to service teams, with periodic on-site support as needed, and escalate to the appropriate technical specialists to meet commissioning timelines related to the turbine controller.
  • Create and manage technical cases, work orders, and non-conformities to update instructions, tools, and troubleshooting guides, or address customer technical queries in line with project and quality processes.
  • Support Work Order readiness by defining priority and assist the back-office purchasing team with tooling and spares lists to smooth daily planning and execution.
  • Coordinate daily planning calls with offshore vessels to support execution planning and optimize activities for the following day.
  • Collaborate with design and technical support teams to develop world-class troubleshooting guides to reinforce service technical independence and boost daily efficiency.
  • Lead technical and operational improvements affecting the main controller, HMI, or SCADA functions for technician operations as well as site-specific operations during grid outages.
  • Drive process improvements focusing on digitalization, data analytics, and EHS compliance.
  • Analyze data for continuous improvement in operational safety and quality, with special focus on warnings analysis and control improvements across overall warning strategies.

Requirements

  • 8 years of Offshore Wind Farm experience.
  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Proven track record in wind turbine operation and troubleshooting is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of wind turbine systems including electrical, mechanical, controls, and network and communication systems.
  • Offshore wind experience is highly desirable due to logistical complexity and offshore operational challenges.
  • Experience with continuous improvement and quality tools applied to service operations.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility, motivation, and ability to work under pressure with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, goal-driven and team-player skills.
  • Understanding of English language for global procedures.

Working Relationships

  • Reports to Technical Support Leader
  • Supports Operations execution teams, including both supervisors and technicians, whether locally at turbines or remotely in the Remote Operation Center
  • Maintains a strong relationship with the Control team within the Engineering organization
