Engineer/Technical Support
Job Description
Yama Seiki USA, Inc. is hiring an Engineer/Technical Support specialist to help installed CNC machines deliver reliable performance from setup through ongoing service. This onsite role in Chino, CA centers on hands-on technical troubleshooting, case management, and customer support, with direct collaboration to coordinate parts, documentation, and service planning.
What you’ll do
- Maintain machine, customer, and service case records in the service database.
- Log, monitor, and follow up on service cases, emails, and calls to keep support moving.
- Verify warranty status, installation dates, and service responsibility for each request.
- Diagnose problems across machines and production equipment and identify root causes.
- Handle electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance activities.
- Use diagnostic tools including multimeters and infrared scanners.
- Identify required spare parts, check inventory, and coordinate with the factory for items not yet documented.
- Determine whether on-site service is needed and estimate labor and time requirements.
- Interpret PLC programs, electrical schematics, and operation manuals.
- Respond to technical support inquiries and deliver clear technical solutions.
- Write, update, and translate service procedures and documentation.
Required qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- Engineering or technical background (mechanical, electrical, or related field).
- Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Fluent English.
- Willing and able to travel for on-site installation, troubleshooting, and service support.
- Ability to commute to Chino, CA 91710 (required).
- Travel: 50% (required).
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with CNC machines or CNC systems (preferred).
- Proficiency in Chinese is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel for on-site installation, troubleshooting, and service support.

Compensation and benefits
