Job Description

Brooksource offers a benefits-forward Senior Data Engineer role on an onsite engagement with a utility client in Tampa, FL. This position provides a competitive hourly rate of $60 to $75 and a comprehensive benefits package including dental insurance, health insurance, and vision insurance. You will collaborate with IT architects, developers, strategic planners, business stakeholders, project managers, contractors, consultants, and vendors supporting utility operations in a hands-on, safety-conscious environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy scalable data pipelines, data models, and ingestion layers to enable advanced analytics and machine learning.
  • Build and maintain scalable data infrastructure on cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Incorporate SAP data sources into the enterprise data platform to support reporting and analytics.
  • Guarantee data quality, reliability, and performance across systems and applications.
  • Drive efforts to minimize data duplication and establish a single source of truth through robust data modeling and integration practices.
  • Provide technical leadership on cross-functional data initiatives, guiding design decisions to align with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Oversee upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning of databases.
  • Develop and enforce standards for data governance, security, and lifecycle management.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and analysts, guiding best practices and technical development.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies to enhance data capabilities.
  • Create and deliver training materials and documentation to support team development and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6 to 8+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or related roles.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, and MongoDB.
  • Extensive experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and tools such as Snowflake and Databricks.
  • Experience integrating SAP data systems (SAP HANA, SAP BW, SAP ECC).
  • Proven track record leading technical projects and mentoring teammates.
