Job Description

TSG Risk Management is seeking a Senior Desktop Support Engineer to provide advanced on-site desktop and end-user support for a financial-services organization in New York. In this role, you will act as an escalation point for complex endpoint, application, and connectivity problems, while also helping streamline onboarding and offboarding workflows and keeping support documentation current.

This is an in-person position in New York, NY (Monday through Friday, 8-hour day shift). Compensation is USD 85,000 to 110,000 per year, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant desktop support experience required.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver advanced desktop and end-user support within an on-site financial-services environment.
  • Escalate and resolve complex issues involving hardware, software, applications, network connectivity, and access problems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot Windows operating system issues, Microsoft Office, and desktop applications.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, mobile devices, software, and peripheral equipment.
  • Manage and prioritize support tickets to meet established response and resolution expectations.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including device preparation, application setup, account access, and equipment collection.
  • Help with user account administration, including password resets, permissions, and access management.
  • Support endpoint-management workflows using Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, and related tools.
  • Troubleshoot printers, conference-room technology, remote-access tools, and other workplace systems.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, network, security, and application teams to resolve escalated incidents.
  • Provide clear user communication on issue status, resolution steps, and expected timelines.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Identify recurring problems and recommend improvements to desktop-support processes and systems.
  • Assist with technology upgrades, deployments, migrations, and other IT projects.
  • Provide professional, discreet, customer-focused support to executives and other senior employees.
  • Follow established security, compliance, and data-protection procedures.

Required qualifications

  • At least five years of professional desktop support, help desk, or end-user computing experience.
  • Financial-services desktop support experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Advanced troubleshooting experience across computer hardware, software, peripherals, and connectivity.
  • Experience with Active Directory, user-access management, and permission troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Intune or another endpoint-management platform.
  • Experience using ServiceNow or another enterprise IT ticketing system.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, VPNs, Wi-Fi, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting onboarding, offboarding, and workstation deployments.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests and handle urgent technical issues effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional, customer-service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with other IT teams.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Ability to work on-site in New York City, Monday through Friday.

Preferred qualifications

  • Familiarity with financial applications, market-data platforms, or other industry-specific systems.
  • Experience working within an ITIL-based support environment.
  • Relevant technical certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft, or ITIL certifications.
