Job Description
DS2 is seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to support Special Operations mission-critical software, with a focus on mission planning applications. This onsite role in Niceville, FL involves building, deploying, testing, and continuously integrating feature-rich applications and proof-of-concepts for next-generation aviation mission planning.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, deployment, and demonstration of feature-rich mission planning applications.
- Collaborate with the team to test, develop, perform peer review, and continuously integrate changes into the code base.
- Conduct research, provide reports, and produce proof-of-concepts and prototypes for modern approaches to next-generation aviation mission planning.
- Keep skills current by learning emerging technologies and programming tools to support team effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical field, plus at least 6 years of experience.
- Background developing mission planning applications for USASOAC, with specific focus on supporting the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.
- Active programming experience using one or more of: C, C++, C#, Kotlin, Java, JavaScript, or Typescript.
- Motivated, energetic development mindset with strong time management and task prioritization to support on-time delivery.
- Ability to engage with teammates both virtually and face-to-face to plan work, seek or provide help, and present solutions to clients.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points)
- Experience using Windows Presentation Foundation for .Net Desktop Development.
- Experience with web frameworks such as React, Node.js, Vue.js, Next.js, ASP.NET, or Angular.
- Any experience developing cross-platform applications using Kotlin Multiplatform or .Net MAUI.
- Examples of code or applications that can be reviewed.
- Demonstrated proficiency with AI-Assisted software development workflows.
- One or more Scrum, Microsoft, Google Developer certifications, or other technical certifications.
